4th of July Events in Savannah 2014
From fireworks to parades, dinner cruises to music, there’s always something happening in Savannah around the weekend of July 4th. Our independence is celebrated numerous ways around Savannah and here is just a small snap shot of things to do and events to attend this next weekend.
The biggest is probably the River Street 4th of July Celebration!
This great event is July 4-6 all day at the Rousakis Riverfront Plaza at 115 East River Street. It’s free and offers great food, music, activities and of course, fireworks. Start on Friday from 4-10 and spill on into Saturday from 10am-10pm and even Sunday from 10am – 5pm. This is fun for the entire family and the Fireworks really kick it all off. Enjoy crafts and art, local exhibitors, live music on several stages, amazing fair food and activities and games for everyone. Thousands attend and there’s always something new to see, hear and experience every year.
Looking for something a little quieter? Well, less crowded maybe; the Savannah Riverboat Cruises celebrating on the 4th with a 1.5-hour cruise, dancing, music, and a first row seat to the amazing firework display. Boarding starts at 8pm returning at 10:20pm. Adults are $32.95 and kids are $25.95.
If you don’t want to venture in town, Tybee Island has their own fireworks display that can be seen from the beach almost anywhere on the eastern beaches of the island. Come early and stay late or just stay home if you live here!
The Fort McAllister State Park has a great celebration if you’re looking for an earlier time. 9am – 4pm enjoy cannon firings, civil war drilling, sack races, egg toss and races. There’s even a baseball game with a civil war era theme.
