While Savannah locals will argue that we have the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the United States, we actually have the second largest, coming in just behind New York City’s! Not only is it one of the most popular annual events in Savannah, we strive to make it a family bonding experience while adult partying happens mainly on River Street and at City Market.
The Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee does a really good job of making it a family friendly event in order for everyone who comes out to get their green on to have a memorable and happy experience. This year marks the 189th annual parade here in Savannah and you can expect to see between 310-320 Navy units, the ever popular Clydesdales, bands from around the country, many high school bands, and plenty of pipes, drums, and Irish celebrating!
This year’s parade is on Saturday, March 16th and starts at 10:15am. This annual celebration is religious as well as cultural, and also on Saturday morning, Mass is held at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist on Lafayette Square.
