Thanksgiving seems to come faster each year and this year is certainly no exception! Just a little over a week away, preparations have most certainly started. Some families travel to gather with family or friends, some spend the early morning hours preparing food, and others partake in events that will get them out bright and early.
One such event in Savannah is the annual United Way Turkey Trot, now in its 4th year. What better way to prepare for the meal ahead than to run or walk through four miles of the beautiful scenery our area is known for?
The Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 22, 2012) at Daffin Park, located at 1116 Washington Ave, Savannah. The family fun begins at 8:00 AM with the Kids K, followed by a Diaper Dash at 8:15 AM. The 4 mile race will then start at 8:30 AM. You can even bring your pets, but keep in mind they are only permitted with the runners and walkers.
To add to the fun of this event, awards will be given for Top 3 overall male and female, Top 3 male and female in each age group, and other fun awards such as largest family, runner from farthest away, most senior, most junior, etc. All Kids K participants will receive an award too! Awards will be presented immediately following tabulations at Daffin Park, and you must be present to receive the awards.
The registration fee also includes a T-shirt and all proceeds benefit the United Way of the Coastal Empire, whose mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.
