A cul-de-sac (literally “butt of the sack” in French), often is interconnected with foot and bike paths, increasing active mobility among residents.  Additionally, culs-de-sac increase neighborhood awareness and sense of ownership.

Are there disadvantages to this street location?  Experts have combed the think tanks.  About the only criticism they could muster was that the extra driving in and out of the street increases gas consumption and emissions!  You be the judge, do the other beneficial features of this life-style out-weigh this paltry disadvantage?
