The State of Georgia has many different options when it comes to first-time homebuyers. There are down payment assistance programs, closing cost programs and financing options for low to moderate income home buyers. These programs may offer up to $8000 for down payment assistance which is typically a tax credit used ahead of time. This financing option does not have to be repaid until the home is sold, refinanced or no longer occupied. If you feel you do not fit into one of these categories you can simply apply for conventional lending.
