Winners of Savannah’s Best Foodie Award

Last week was Savannah’s Tastiest Party; The Eat it and Like it Foodie Awards. On May 8 at the Mansion on Forsyth Park talented chefs, foodies and judges alike all culminated on some of Savannah’s best food joints. They discussed foods they liked, disliked and argued over who should be nominated for particular food groups. The Best Wings in Savannah was 520 Wings. If there’s a crowd, you know something good is going on. With homemade spices, Southern flavor, and extremely good value, 520 Wings made the top of the list for tasty chicken wings.

For fried chicken in general, Sisters of the New South one of the best in the show for delicious southern fried chicken from the Brown family. They also have some tasty southern dishes as they claim to have some of the best soul food in Savannah.

The best barbecue came down to Sandfly BBQ. This was a close vote however, everyone had a favorite but the only one that got multiple votes was Sandfly. Check out their delicious pulled pork sandwiches, smoked sausage plate, and full rack of ribs – YUM!

The best breakfast came in at the Tybee Island Breakfast Club. This model of consistency has been in the area for a long time and with lots of amazing dishes such as Smackwater Jack’s omelet, country fried steak breakfast and cinnamon raisin French toast, you know you can’t go wrong. The club also won for the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The best steak in Savannah has to be at Noble Fare. Repeatedly known for “one of the best steaks I’ve ever had,” Nobel Fare proved they belong on top with juicy ribeyes and fantastic New York strip.

The best bakery has to be Back in the Day Bakery. Scrumptious red velvet cupcakes, rainbow petits fours, warm and soft chocolate chip cookies and delectable treats, this has to take the cake is one of the best in the county.

The contest even had a best date spot, which came in as Elizabeth on 37th. Want to impress the girl? This iconic landmark is located at 105 E. 37th St. and features an unexceptionable wine list, tasting menu, and seven course dinner.
