Back to school time is in full swing here in Savannah, bringing with it the need to re-establish a routine and shop for supplies, clothes, and the newest gadgets.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have a clothing checklist that would give you the run down on the must haves to make a brand new school year start off right?  Well I’ve done a little checking and came across just such a checklist provided by Parenting.com.

Here in Savannah, Ga, we are blessed to have a variety of award winning schools that provide top notch educations and we are lucky and happy to be a part of a school system that continues to expand and adjust for the best interests of the children.  Preparing your kids for the school year should be fun and even a way to find out more about what they like and don’t like, how their tastes have changed, and what new challenges they are facing.

Start this school year off by having the essentials in their closet (and maybe a few of the nice-to-haves)!

MUST HAVES

4 Pairs of Pants – Look for jeans, khaki’s, and chinos in different washes and colors to multiply outfit options.

10 Short-Sleeve Shirts – Find an assortment of T-shirts, polos, and sweaters so they can rotate styles.

3 Long-Sleeve Shirts – Choose solids and patterns to wear alone or layered under short-sleeve shirts.

3 Cardis or Hoodies – Look for easy-to-wash choices in a non-itchy fabric like cotton.

2 Bags – Grab a backpack in a size that easy for them to carry and an insulated lunch box for meals.

3 Pairs of Shoes – Find a pair of althletic sneakers, some comfy everyday shoes, and boots for chilly days.

2 Jackets – Pick out a thick winter coat and a lightweight water-resistant jacket for the rest of the year.

10 Pairs of Socks – Choose five fashion socks and five basic options to go with all your shoe choices.

10 Pairs of Underwear – Accidents happen.  Buy enough for a full week plus a few extras.

It’s important for every family to be budget conscious so once the must haves are taken care of, re-visit the possibility of throwing in a few of these extras:

NICE-TO-HAVES

3 Accessories – Add personality with watches, hats, belts, or jewelry.
